The cost to have a book published can be quite hefty.  If you choose to go with a "vanity press" it will run you into the thousands (of dollars) to print a "small" book.   If you're an unknown author, publishers just do not want to take the risk of spending lots of money on a book that may not sell.  When I decided to write my own books, I wanted to have a product that not only I could use but those who wanted to start a home business could use also.  I chose to put my information and ideas in a booklet form so it would be easy to carry and the cost of producing them would be low.  I could also do this easily right out of my home office.

There is a system called P.O.D. (print on demand).    This means a booklet is printed when it is sold or purchased.  There are a few advantages to this process.  (1)  There are no unsold books sitting on a shelf;  (2)  Books can be updated easily;  (3)  Books can be personalized, if desired; and  (4)  There aren't huge "up front" costs.  This is especially important to those who are working on a "shoestring" budget.  This is a great system to use if you plan to self-publish "How-To" information booklets.

It takes a lot of patience to do something like this, and most of all, you should enjoy it.
