Starting Your Business God's Way

by LaDonna Vick

I recently went to a Christian home business seminar.  The speaker was a 29 year old attorney with offices in New York, Atlanta, and Dallas.  To say the least I was impressed with what she had accomplished in such a short time.  She walked with such a sense of purpose, which I believe we all should do.  Her main topic was how to start  your business God's way.  Here are a few things she shared with us.  They are what she considers her "Recipe For Success" in business.

  • Set out to be God owned and family operated.

  • Make sure its God directed and not money driven.  The money will come.

  • Partnerships should be in covenant with God. (make sure your partner is a believer)

  • Dress appropriately; put on your garment of praise. Isaiah 61:3

  • Tightly fasten armor of God. Ephesians. (6:13-18)

  • Add mindset of "know who you are and who's you are in Christ". (Isaiah 48:1)

  • Have One vision. (Proverbs 29:8)

  • Add a heart full of faith. (Hebrews 11:6)

  • Add renewed mind. (Romans 12:2)

  • Practice the principles of sowing and reaping. (Corinthians 9:6)

  • Confess success in your business. (Psalms 45:16)

  • Position yourself to possess the land. (Deuteronomy 28)

  • Realize that financial strength is not the first pursuit.

  • Realize that God will not move where there is no faith in Him.

  • Realize that God will use something that you already have within.

  • Look within yourself and acknowledge the gifts with which God has graced you.

Remember that God is the giver of ideas.  Use the gifts He has already given you.  He doesn't hand out checks, nor does He let dollars rain down from heaven.  He gives thoughts and the gift of creativity; what you do with them is your gift to Him.  It is not enough to just acknowledge you have a gift.  You must act on them to achieve your dreams and goals.
